Dundee Bound

We are travelling to Dundee for AUOB this weekend with some of our ten thousand new A6 flyers. If you see us come over and say hello and take one away with you for display or to pass on. If it’s not to windy we’ll erect our roller banner so that hopefully it will be easy to find us.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who has donated to our crowdfunder so far and made this possible.

If you should wish to make a contribution toward the future production of materials you will find a PayPal link at the bottom of this webpage. Please note that YSF is not for profit and is run on a voluntary basis.

A Timely Reminder

Nicola Sturgeon made the following remarks while addressing the SNP’s spring conference in March 2017.

She extended an invitation to everyone “as appalled as we are at the path this Westminster government is taking.”  and declared that Scotland will stage another “independence referendum.”

“Scotland isn’t full up. If you are as appalled as we are at the path this Westminster government is taking, come and join us,” she said. “Come here to live, work, invest or study. Come to Scotland and be part of building a modern, progressive, outward-looking, compassionate country,” she continued.

Ms Sturgeon accused Theresa May of seeking a hard Brexit and attacked the prime minister’s “intransigence.”. “The Prime Minister’s attitude should worry all of us hoping that negotiations with Europe will not be a disaster because—and let me put this bluntly—if she shows the same condescension and inflexibility, the same tin ear, to other EU countries as she has to Scotland then the Brexit process will hit the rocks,” she continued.

“In an independent Scotland, the SNP would guarantee unequivocally the right to stay here for all EU citizens who do us the honor of making our country their home,” she reiterated.

YES – We’re all in this together

We all make mistakes and we’re all entitled to change our minds, particularly when presented with new information. This is important to bear in mind if you are attempting to persuade someone over to your point of view. Being sanctimonious, critical or outright contemptible is unlikely to win anyone over to your side and may result in the individual in question closing themselves off from further debate on the subject (even with others). So if you can’t approach the subject of Scottish Independence with tolerance and understanding then please PLEASE keep yourself out of the debate. Such negative views are, in my opinion, best left unvoiced.

The Yes movement is open to everyone who would choose to join with the best of intentions (and by that I mean that it is not a place for hatred or discrimination). Independence is never intended as a device to divide Scots but rather to unify us in a common belief that Westminster has failed Scotland and that our country will be better served with the autonomy to make all its own decisions.

Let’s all be a positive voice for Scotland.

Wakey Wakey

Waken someone Scottish from their unionist media slumber by reaching out to them in a positive and open manner. Many people have an aversion to ‘political’ conversation so maybe don’t make it about politics make it about ‘life’. Raise someone’s awareness of all the positive effects that the Scottish government is having on our lives.

Remember it doesn’t need to be a lengthy debate it could simply be a positive remark about; that free prescription you just collected, or how your kid is getting a free university education, or the halt on fracking, or Or OR. In fact it could be easier still by leaving your copy of the National or iScot magazine in a waiting room at the doctor, dentist or a local cafe, the train, a neighbour of family members home.

The opportunities to positively endorse Scotland and to promote its journey to independence are limited only by your imagination.

Hope not Hate

I’m for building a new Scotland free from the shackles and limitations of Westminster. It is a place for hope and aspiration fuelled by positivity. Hatred and division have no part in it, such negativity should be left in the past where it belongs. Scotland has a rich heritage and history which will never be forgotten but that is its past, not its present or indeed its future.

Scotland is a luxurious tapestry formed  from the threads of so many; peoples, cultures, beliefs, who have chosen to make this nation their home. As a people we choose not to hate for there in lies the errors of the past. The Yes movement is open to everyone who would willingly choose to join it, as an iScotland will also be.

I’m not for sending anyone ‘home’ because if you chose to embrace this country and to be Scottish then You Are Home.
